Obituary of Colleen P. Castellano

Colleen Patricia Castellano (née Ryan), a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 53.

Colleen is survived by her beloved husband of 24 years, Christopher Castellano; her cherished son, Connor Castellano; her father, Dennis Ryan; one brother, Keith Ryan and his wife Christin; one sister, Kate Ryan Whitehead and her husband Shawn; and family including nieces, a nephew, god-daughters, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Bettejane Ryan.

Colleen was born on July 23, 1970, on the Fort Lewis military base in Tacoma, Washington, where her father was stationed with the United States Air Force. The family settled in Point Pleasant, NJ when Colleen was six and that is where she spent the rest of her childhood.

Colleen obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maine. While in college, she met her beloved husband Chris, and the couple married on July 10, 1999, eventually settling in Madison. Colleen had a long and fulfilling career in advertising and e-commerce with Thomas Publishing in Manhattan, and later became a project manager with a specialty in web implementation.

A kindhearted, mild-mannered woman, Colleen always put others before herself. She loved spending time with her family, especially her son, Connor, who was her pride and joy. She and Chris loved watching Connor’s soccer and baseball games. Colleen also enjoyed spending time with her family at their beach cottage, reading, scrapbooking, gardening, 80s music, and travelling and shopping with her best friend, Jill Hooper. She served on the board of the Madison Soccer Club and was involved with the Madison Education Foundation.

Colleen’s family will deeply miss her gentle and thoughtful spirit but take comfort in knowing she is now at peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation for Colleen on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Colleen’s name may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380
