Obituary of Carmen Maria Alonso

Carmen Maria Alonso, daughter of Modesto and Carmen Alonso, has died at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her parents, sisters Elena Alonso, Ana Alonso Acosta (Jorge), Dora Alonso Tartaglia (Robert), nephews Gregory Acosta and Christian Tartaglia, nieces Cristina Acosta, Olivia Acosta and Sofia Tartaglia, aunts Maria Aguinaga and Margot Santin, uncles Manuel and Jorge Santin and numerous cousins.

Carmen Maria was born in Philadelphia and during her childhood lived in several countries where her father worked as an engineer. After high school she attended the New York School of Interior Design and lived for over 30 years in New York City, the last 15 with her beloved dog Charlie. She became an accomplished interior designer and established her own company, Carmen Alonso Interiors LLC, which completed major projects throughout Manhattan and south Florida.

Carmie, as she was affectionately known by many of her friends, was a generous and creative soul, whose zest for life, pursuit of beauty and enduring strength inspired all who knew her.

For everyone’s safety and well-being, the Alonso family has decided to make Carmen Maria’s service virtual. Those who wish may virtually attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 by visiting the main webpage of Holy Family Church, Florham Park at https://holyfamilyfp.org/ during the time of the service.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Madison Memorial Home. For notes of condolence to the family please visit www.madisonmemorialhome.com

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make a charitable contribution in Carmen Maria’s memory to a cancer related institution or organization.
