Obituary of Connie Perillo

Concetta “Connie” Perillo (née Esposito), a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Newton. She was 87.

Connie was born in Morristown on August 18, 1933 to the late Anthony and Madeline Esposito. She was raised in Madison and graduated high school at Bayley-Ellard. She was very athletic and played softball in high school.

Connie married her beloved husband, the late Michael Perillo in 1955. Connie’s family fondly remembers the beloved red convertible her husband gifted to her with the license plate “4Connie”. The couple had no children of their own, but doted on their many nieces and nephews, and later their great-nieces and nephews, treating them like their own children. Being “Aunt Connie” was her greatest title and what she took the most pride in.

She adored playing golf and played all the way up to 2016. She was a member of the Pinchbrook Women’s 9 Holer’s Club and even won a Golfer of the Month Award. She was remembered for always having the most perfectly coordinated golfing outfits from her visor to her socks. After her husband’s passing in November of 1996, Connie became a school crossing guard for the Madison High School. She had a special connection with the kids and knew them all by name. She loved to put a smile on their faces by dressing up for all Holidays.

Connie had a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years, Michael Perillo, and her dear sister Mary Salerno this past July. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Twillmann; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Connie’s life held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will directly follow the visitation at 1:00PM at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Entombment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

**Visitors to the funeral home and church are asked to wear masks and practice proper social distancing. In order to maintain a safe number of people in the funeral home, we kindly & respectfully ask that after paying your respects you give others the same opportunity by making your visit brief.**
