Obituary of Florence Zuchowski

Florence Zuchowski, of Madison, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. She was 100 years old and one month away from turning 101.

Florence is survived by her two daughters, Karen Mazzocchi and her husband Peter & Marisa Snow and her husband Charlie; one son, James Zuchowski and his wife Mona; one brother, Jack Ciriello and his wife Marie; ten cherished grandchildren, Danielle Mazzochi, Peter J. Mazzochi (Kim), Christian Mazzochi (Shelby), Charlie Snow, Jr. (Laura), Ted Snow (Gina), Joe Snow (Kelly), Colleen Snow, Joshua Zuchowski, Jeremy Zuchowski & Jonathan Zuchowski; nine great grandchildren, Dylan, Griffin, Olive, Olivia, Aria, Isabella, Francesca, John & Joseph; and many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley Zuchowski in 2004; one son, Stanley Zuchowski, Jr.; one daughter, Maria Zuchowski; two brothers, Jimmy Ciriello & Augie Ciriello; and two sisters, Mary Clark & Jennie Tobin.

Florence was born in the Province of Udine, Italy on September 2, 1925 to the late Carolina Bellina and Antonio Ciriello. She came to the United States by boat in 1928, and settled in Madison, NJ.

Florence attended St. Vincent’s school and completed her education to the 9th grade. She had to quit school as both of her parents became ill.

Florence worked in the infirmary at St. Elizabeth's Convent, where she met her beloved husband, the late Stanley Zuchowski. They were married on May 14, 1949 after he got back from serving in World War II.

Florence worked for Sandoz Pharmaceutical Co. in East Hanover for 17 years. In her retirement she enjoyed arts & crafts, crossword puzzles and taking care of her grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Florence on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

Florence was a huge supporter of St. Jude Children’s hospital. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
