Obituary of Robert J. Weckesser, Sr.
Robert Joseph Weckesser, Sr., a longtime Bayonne resident and more recently of Monroe, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert J. Weckesser, Jr. and his wife Darlene, and Ryan Weckesser and his wife Courtney; two brothers, Eugene Weckesser and Richard Weckesser; his twin sister, Patricia Weckesser, and his sister, Margie Weckesser; his five cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Tabitha, Porter, Riley, and Finley; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dianne Weckesser (née Brady) in January of this year; and his two brothers, Edward Weckesser and Ronald Weckesser.
Born to the late Edward and Eleanor Weckesser, Robert was raised in a close-knit family alongside his six siblings in Bayonne. His journey through life led him to marry the love of his life, Dianne Weckesser, on March 1, 1969. Together, they dedicated their lives to raising their two sons, Robert J. Weckesser, Jr. and Ryan Weckesser, in a home filled with love.
Robert was a devoted husband and father, known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his family. He spent nearly 40 years as a chemical mixer and specialized technician at Kenrich Petrochemicals, earning the respect of his colleagues and mentoring many along the way. His good heart and strong moral compass guided him throughout his life, making him a dependable friend and confidant.
An avid freshwater fisherman and a loyal New York Mets fan, Robert had a deep passion for the outdoors and cherished spending quality time with his family. He took particular pridein his five grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and happiness.
Robert will be deeply missed, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Robert to be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A funeral service led by Fr. Owen B. Moran will be held at 1:00 p.m. during the visitation.
Interment will be held privately for the family.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
