Obituary of Donald J. Boegler

Donald J. Boegler, a resident of Roselle, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Dorothy DeFaria and her husband Rick, Linda Pendas and her husband Raymond, and son Donald Boegler, Jr. and his wife Melissa; sister Patricia Emanuele; step granddaughter Dr. Carly DeFaria and her husband, Dr. Atif Nehvi; several nieces and nephews; former spouse, Francesca DeTore and many dear friends. Don was also predeceased by his sister Dorothy “Joan” Masgay and brother Alfred C. Boegler, Jr.

Don was the third child of four born to Alfred and Dorothy Boegler in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1939. His parents relocated to Providence, RI where he spent most of his youth before settling in NJ. Don and Francesca were married in 1964 in Madison, NJ where they settled and raised their three children.

Family and faith were deeply important to Don, and his family meant everything to him. He enjoyed spending time outside hiking, fishing, and hunting, and especially loved the game of golf. He also enjoyed Sandy Hook in late summer and early fall and spent many weekends enjoying the beach there.

Don served as a member of the Army National Guard and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He conducted himself with distinction and was selected as Colonel’s Assistant in recognition of his military knowledge and attention to detail.

Don explored many different career paths before finding his niche in golf club management and catering. He was employed by Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ for 30 years, from which he retired.

Don celebrated life every day and often said to others he was blessed and fortunate. He will be remembered for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and the knack he had for cracking himself (and others) up.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Donald from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, NJ.
