Obituary of Elaine K. Green

Elaine K. Green, a longtime Cedar Knolls resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on July 7, 1937, in Jersey City, Elaine was the beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Anna Tomeo (née Georgia). Raised in Jersey City, she grew up surrounded by a large and loving extended family, a bond she carried with her throughout her life.

Elaine met her former husband in Manhattan, and following their marriage, the couple began a life that took them to Virginia and later Colorado while he served in the United States Marine Corps. After their separation, Elaine returned to New Jersey, where she built a successful and fulfilling career.

Elaine worked for many years as an executive administrator in the pharmaceutical industry, including her role with Novartis in East Hanover. Known for her professionalism, organization, and warmth, she was highly respected by colleagues and formed lasting friendships throughout her career.

A woman with a love for life and connection, Elaine enjoyed traveling extensively throughout Europe and across the United States. She maintained a wide circle of close friends and treasured their frequent lunches and gatherings, always bringing laughter and warmth wherever she went.

Elaine was deeply devoted to her faith and was an active member of Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls, where she volunteered in the church gift shop. She was the heart of her family; the one who kept everyone connected, organized gatherings, and made sure no one was ever left out. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she especially adored her grandchildren, whom she doted on endlessly.

She is survived by her loving sons, Jim Green and Michael Green and his wife, Nancy; her sisters, Patricia Chiarolanzia, Theresa Tomeo, and Mary Tomeo; and her cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Marie, Dana, Kyle, and Connor. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her siblings Angelo Tomeo, Donald Tomeo, Benjamin Tomeo, Frank Tomeo, Jenny Aielli, and Rose Squillaci.

Elaine will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. She was the glue that held generations together, and her legacy of warmth, devotion, and connection will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated for Elaine at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026

Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
