Obituary of Annie A. Solano

Annie A. Solano (née Asistio), of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 92.

Born on June 17, 1933, in Jolo, Philippines, Annie was the daughter of the late Macario and Asuncion Asistio (née Aquino). She spent her early years in the southern Philippines before moving to Manila, where she grew up in a close-knit and politically engaged family. The eldest of seven children, Annie carried a strong sense of responsibility, warmth, and leadership throughout her life.

Annie was a vibrant and joyful woman who embraced life fully. In her younger years, she participated in beauty pageants and proudly held the title of Miss Kalookan. She had a love for singing, dancing, telling jokes, and staying active, continuing her aerobics routines well into her 80s. Known for her generous spirit, she cherished time spent with her large family and delighted in hosting family gatherings and celebrations.

She married Aquiles Solano, a pilot with Philippine Airlines, whom she met through a mutual friend. Together they built a loving family until his passing on March 30, 2008.

Annie was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and home. She later made her home in New Jersey, where she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and traveling back to the Philippines to visit loved ones.

She is survived by her loving children, Dennis Solano and his wife Veronica Dee, Armand Solano and his wife Marites Brual, Bernard Solano and his wife Margaret Tan, Carmina Solano, Evangeline Hance and her husband Cagatay, and Anna Christine Ashrafi and her husband Ali; her daughter-in-law, Monet Solano; one brother, Luis Asistio; one sister, Aurora Henson; 11 cherished grandchildren Kirk, Maryanne, Oliver, Kristina, Kristofer, Joseph, Khrizel, Karl, Kyrstle, Alp, and Eren; 6 treasured great-grandchildren Lucy, Lily, Leo, Vayda, Cruz, and Zachary; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Annie was predeceased by her eldest son, Edwin Solano; her brothers Antonio Asistio and Macario Asistio, Jr.; her sisters Alita Munoz and Jovita Viceral; and her grandson, Michael Brian Solano.

Annie will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a generous and spirited woman, and the heart of her family. Her laughter, warmth, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Annie to be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
