Obituary of Lorraine Dailey

Lorraine Dailey, of Chatham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was 86.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Dailey; two sons, Michael Dailey (Katherine) and Sean Dailey (Jill); and five cherished grandchildren, Thomas, George, Ryan, Morgan, and Ella.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lorraine cherished her family above all. She was born in Newark to the late George and Freda Lysat and grew up in Hillside alongside her sister, Evelyn.

She married Robert in 1963, and the couple soon settled in Roselle. Lorraine worked in accounts receivable throughout her career while also dedicating herself wholeheartedly to raising their sons. She and her family were longtime, active parishioners of St. Joseph the Carpenter Church, and she carried a deep Catholic faith with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.

After retirement, Lorraine and Robert moved to Brick, where they made many dear friends, enjoyed summer concerts by the ocean, and spent countless evenings playing Rummikub. She was a proud grandmother who loved her grandchildren deeply. She also had a soft spot for animals—especially her dogs—and was an excellent cook who hosted memorable holiday gatherings, with every dish somehow arriving hot and at just the right time.

Lorraine was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Brennan, and is also survived by her beloved niece, Cindy Santos, and nephew, Kevin Brennan.

She will be deeply missed, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her love, faith, and warmth will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Avenue, Chatham.
