I met Mary around 10 years ago at my son Michael’s wedding. He married Mary’s grand daughter, Elise. It was the only time I had the pleasure of meeting her as we were seated at the same table. For me, it was a rare occurrence to meet a 95 year old woman who not only loved baseball ( and her NY Yankees), but could quote player statistics from the team’s stars from the 1950’s and 60’’s. Her knowledge of the game was matched only by her congenial manner and friendly nature. Our conversation delved into family anecdotes and I recall her beaming smile that accompanied any reference to her sons and grandchildren. She truly was a special person and God did us all a favor by blessing her with longevity of life. Steve Blong
