Obituary of Marie Millin-Donnamaria
Marie Donnamaria, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and dear friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Madison, New Jersey, on December 20, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born on July 26, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, Marie was the eldest daughter of Andrew and Mary Carida. She was raised in Newark alongside her two siblings, embracing from a young age a lifelong love of fashion, beauty, and elegance. Marie had a natural flair for style and took great joy in clothing, makeup, and all things feminine; a passion that became both a personal trademark and a professional calling.
She worked selling cosmetics at Bonwit Teller in the Short Hills Mall, where her warmth, impeccable presentation, and eye for beauty made her especially beloved by customers and colleagues alike. It was during her years working at Automatic Switch in Florham Park that Marie met the love of her life, Bonaventure “Ben” Donnamaria. The two shared a devoted marriage of 35 years, marked by companionship, laughter, and deep affection. Marie and Ben enjoyed daily walks together, and they treasured time spent vacationing at their condominium in Delray Beach, Florida. At home, Marie expressed her love through cooking, taking great pride in preparing meals for
her husband and family, always ensuring everyone felt welcomed and cared for.
Marie is survived by her daughter Dr. Cynthia Millin and her husband, Engels the Artist; her three stepdaughters; her brother, Leonard Carida; and many loving family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Bonaventure “Ben” Donnamaria, and her brother, Dr. Robert V. Carida, Sr.
Marie will be remembered for her wit, elegance, and warmth as well as the love she so freely gave to her family and friends. Her grace, style, and devotion to those she loved will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.
Marie will be laid to rest alongside her husband in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, corner of Noe Avenue and Shunpike Road, Madison.
