Obituary of Mary Jane Hurley
Mary Jane Hurley, of Flemington, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the age of 81.
Mary Jane is survived by her four nephews, Brian Donnelly and his wife Amy, Kieran Donnelly and his wife Kate, Mark Donnelly, and Patrick Donnelly and his wife Christine; her niece-in-law, Allison Donnelly; and her twelve cherished great-nieces and great-nephews: Liam, Owen, Lily, Richard, Mary, Kieran, Cara, Caroline, Meredith, Dilyn, J.J., and Gyllian.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Cornelius Hurley and Mary Hurley (née Sutton), and by her sister, Patricia A. Donnelly, and brother-in-law, Richard E. Donnelly.
Born in New York City on March 31, 1944, Mary Jane grew up in Manhasset, New York. She was a proud graduate of Marymount Academy in Tarrytown, New York, and later earned her degree from Marymount University. She built a distinguished career in advertising in New York City, most notably with the firm Benton & Bowles, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout her professional journey. She later transitioned into executive recruiting, where she helped many professionals advance their careers.
A longtime resident of Great Neck, New York, Mary Jane also called Flemington, New Jersey home for 27 years. She was deeply committed to giving back to her community, dedicating much of her time as a volunteer with the Special Olympics—a cause close to her heart, inspired by her neighbor Justin’s participation.
In retirement, Mary Jane’s love for animals continued as she became a beloved pet sitter and dog walker, sharing her compassion and warmth with many cherished pets.
Mary Jane’s kindness, dedication, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
A Mass will be held on January 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 50 Bernards Avenue, Bernardsville, NJ 07924.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Jane’s memory to Special Olympics New Jersey.
