For over three decades we enjoyed seeing Patricia Bartinique at the annual Arts and Crafts Conference in Asheville, NC. We have a library shelf full of books featured in her annual Book Club sessions. Our conversations were always so engaging and she was such a good discussion leader. And a lovely person, too! We will really miss her.

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Patricia Bartinique. She was my teacher at ECC back in 1970, and she gave so much to us in regard to our grasp of great plays by heavyweights like Ibsen and Strindberg. Pat was always elegant and well spoken, and, even in the face of any stresses from teaching, she always maintained a calm and peaceful demeanor.
(Bravissima, Ms. Bartinique!! Thank you for your efforts! Your students came away with valuable insights into the world of theater!)
My deepest condolences to Jeff and to her family. Those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Pat Bartinique will keep great memories of her.

I met Pat early on, seventeen years ago, when I began working at The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms. She helped to make the museum what it is today and was always a friend, supporter, and source of encouragement. She will be missed by everyone in the Arts and Crafts community.

My condolences to Pat’s family. She was so great to chat with at the annual Arts and Crafts Conferences at GPI. I had no idea she lived so close to me in NJ. I had to travel to NC to meet such a lovely woman. She will be missed greatly.

Pat and I shared a special bond, as were both born in April of 1943 and were promoted to full professor at the same time, after long years of struggle to achieve that distinction. After 50 years at Essex, I decided to retire because I couldn’t stand the thought of all online courses during the Covid pandemic. Pat, however, soldiered on, and we kept in touch via email and text. After the pandemic subsided we arranged to meet about once a month for lunch, catch up on everything, having chats and laughter. This continued after her cancer diagnosis and she would keep me posted about her treatments, her excursions to North Carolina for the Arts Conferences and her musical performances with the choir. I kept her informed about all my travels and we eagerly shared all our photos. She always wanted to see where I had been and traveled vicariously with me. In turn, I would bring her silly and sweet refrigerator magnets from wherever I had been, because I loved to see her reaction.
During our lunches, she was able to eat well and share her various worries about the course of her illness; she also commiserated with me during my struggles and was a steadying force in my life. Our last lunch in October was wonderful, despite her fragility, and we were supposed to meet up again at the end of October. It was not to be, however; I cannot express how much seeing her and giving her hugs meant to me, and I celebrate the life of Pat Bartinique, professor and author extraordinaire and good friend always.

I will miss Pat backstage and onstage. As a longtime member of Masterworks Chorus, she expected your best, no matter the role you played. A consummate professional yet loving and warm.
A tradition in theaters is to leave 1 light turned on, even after everyone’s gone.
Miss you Pat.
Love you Pat.
Leaving the light on, in your honor.

Memories of Pat at the Grove Park Inn will forever be in our hearts. She was an accomplished author, writer. and discussion leader and dedicated supporter of the conference. But above all, she was our friend. Rest well, Pat.

I just heard about Pat’s death. What a loss! The knowledge that passed with her is irretrievable. Her and Jeffrey Preston and Judy Jordan’s exhibition and catalog of the groundbreaking Craftsman Farms show were a further propulsion of the A&C Movement’s revival.
May she rest in Peace. Her work here is done and she has left wonderful memories.

But more importantly, a good friend!
