Mass of Christian Burial
Obituary of Nicholas Allan Mangold
Nicholas Allan Mangold, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 41. A revered resident of Madison, New Jersey, Nick was a larger-than-life figure whose devotion to family defined every chapter of his remarkable life.
Nick is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Jennifer Mangold, and their four cherished children: Matthew, Eloise, Thomas and Charlotte who were the light of his life, and his fur baby, Walter, whom he adored. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Therese, his beloved grandmother Kathleen Hamlin, his three adoring sisters, Kelley (Dan) Voss, Holley (Charles) Ramgold, and Maggey, his in-laws Thomas and Maureen Richmond, and Liz (Mike) Fink as well as his treasured nieces and nephews: Andrew, Emma, Lillian, Alexander, and Elizabeth, all of whom he loved deeply.
Born in Centerville, Ohio, Nick grew up surrounded by family, faith, and football. From a young age, his combination of size and athleticism was matched only by his humility and work ethic. He first made his mark at Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio, before taking his talents to THE Ohio State University, where he helped lead the Buckeyes to a National Championship in 2002.
In 2006, Nick’s lifelong dream became reality when the New York Jets selected him with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. Over the next eleven seasons (2006–2016), Nick became a cornerstone of the Jets’ offense and one of the most respected centers in the league. His toughness, intelligence, and leadership set the standard for excellence earning him multiple Pro Bowl selections and, in 2022, a place in the New York Jets “Ring of Honor.” Yet, for all his success under the bright lights of the NFL, Nick’s truest victories came off the field.
Above all else, Nick was a devoted husband and father. From the moment he met his Jenny in high school, they became inseparable sweethearts, building a life filled with laughter, adoration, and adventure. Together they planted their roots in Madison, raising four beautiful children in a home overflowing with love and cleats. Every break from football, every weekend off the field, was devoted to creating memories, from sharing brats in Mittenwald, chasing sunsets over Sydney Harbor, or enjoying one of their countless Disney trips in his Sorcerer Mickey hat. For Nick and Jenny, travel and family time weren’t about escaping life, they were about living it to the fullest and making lasting memories that could fill a size 15 double wide shoe.
Nick’s big heart and generous spirit reached far beyond his family. He was a loyal friend, a mentor to many, a spirited coach and a quiet force of kindness and generosity. Through his charitable work and acts of service, Nick embodied compassion and humility. His faith was his compass. A proud parishioner and avid volunteer for St. Vincent Martyr School, Nick never shied away from rolling up his sleeves for the SVMS community and making his town and community a little slice of heaven.
Nick will be profoundly missed by his family, school dad friends, teammates, and fans. Yet his legacy built on loyalty and integrity will live on in every life he touched, every hand he shook, every meal he treated. His story reminds us that true greatness isn’t measured by trophies or records, but by the love we give and the lives we brighten along the way. We will miss you Nick, may your legacy live on for eternity, you will forever be our Hall of Fame Husband, Father and Friend.
