Obituary of Samuel J. Piccolo, Jr.

Samuel Joseph Piccolo, Jr., a lifelong resident of Madison, departed this world peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 77 years old.

Sam is survived by one sister, Sandra Biasi; one brother, James Piccolo; five nieces and nephews, Maryanne Quinn, Michael Quinn, Tommy Biasi, Keri Fleming & Tarynne Piccolo; several nieces & nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by one brother, Bill Piccolo; and one sister, Barbara Quinn.

Born in Morristown to the late Samuel and Rose Piccolo, Sam was raised in Madison alongside his four siblings. He was a proud graduate of Madison High School and furthered his education at Keystone Junior College, ultimately earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rider University. Sam later earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Sam dedicated his professional life to accounting, beginning his career with AT&T before establishing his own successful accounting business in Madison. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in his field. Sam was also an Enrolled Agent with the IRS, which he was very proud of.  An enrolled agent (EA) is a federally licensed tax professional who has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. It is the highest credential the IRS awards and is held by tax specialists who demonstrate expertise in tax matters.

He was a devoted dog owner, showering his furry companions with love and care. Sam generously volunteered his time at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, advocating for the well-being of animals in need.

An avid gardener and a passionate cook, Sam took great pleasure in preparing Sunday dinners that brought family and friends together. He also enjoyed boating during his younger years and once took an extensive tour throughout Italy, a trip that enriched his life.

Sam was a member of UNICO, dedicating his time to charitable causes and community service. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, often striking up conversations with everyone he met. Sam’s warm smile and kind heart made him a familiar face at ShopRite, where he knew many of the staff members and patrons by name. Sam was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Sam leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and community spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation for Sam on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sam's memory to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave, Madison, NJ 07940, a cause that was close to his heart.
