Obituary of Nicholas F. Palmieri

Nicholas Palmieri passed away after a long illness surrounded by family, on September 11, 2025 at the age of 85. 

Nicholas was born in Newark on  April 2, 1940 to Sam and Adele (née) Pisapia.  He was a lifelong resident of Madison, NJ. attending St.Vincent Martyr and Bayley Ellard High School graduating  in 1958.  After high school, Nick enlisted in the Navy and after Basic Training in the Great Lakes,, he became an Aviation Electronic Technician stationed in Texas, Rhode Island and Lakehurst, NJ.  He began dating Janet Tarascio in 1960 and when he was  discharged from the Navy in 1962, he proposed and they married  in 1963.  They stayed in Madison where they raised three children.   Nick then joined his father Sam in the plumbing business, helping him grow the business and make it successful.  

In 1968, Nick joined the Madison Police Department  as an auxiliary policeman and served for 24 years before resigning as a sergeant in 1992.

As a proud veteran, Nick also joined the American Legion in Florham Park, spending time with his fellow former service members.

In addition to his wife, Janet, Nick is survived by his three children; Donna Mollineaux and her husband Bill of Livingston, Jeanne Izzo and her husband Mike of Whippany, and Nicholas Jr. of Byram He is also survived by the three lights of his life, his grandchildren Gianna Izzo, Vincent Palmieri and Carmine Palmieri; his sister Mary Davenport and her husband Robert of Netcong and Frank Palmieri and his wife Debbie of Jacksonville,  FL, his sister-in-law Mary Ann Landweer of  San Juan Capistrano, CA .as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the memorial visitation for Nick to be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. during the visitation, followed by US Navy Honors.
