Annie M., as we nicknamd her in college, was one of the sweetest, most caring and generous women I have known. From supporting her parents when her brother Billy was lost in the Vietnam war, to caring for them and her elderly aunts in New Jersey as they aged, Anne has always valued her family above all. She was a kind and generous friend, supporting us through losses, and celebrating successes as though they were her own. She had a fun sense of humor, and an adventurous spirit, always a smiling twinkle in her eye. I was happy to spend a day with Anne at Longwood Gardens in 2023. As always, her enjoyment and appeciation of the natural world was infectious. We had a wonderful 2 days. Anne caught me up on her Mc Donald's crew. As usual, she derived pleasure and meaning from helping people. The last conversation we had was Anne calling me to check up, as I was remiss in returning a call, and she wanted to be sure I was all right. I miss Anne. I am sad for all of us, but especially her family, her neices, nephews and God-children whom she loved dearly. We have lost a treasure. Patty Barbano Bertschy IU 1970

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Anne for many years at Treasury. She had a great affection for the Department and for the Bureau of the Public Debt, where we worked together. Anne was capable, professional, and an outstanding ambassador and representative for Public Debt and for Treasury. Her striving for perfection in action and communication set the standard for her colleagues. She had a caring spirit that radiated in all directions. She was loyal to her Treasury coworkers, compassionate with her immediate and extended family, and a selfless supporter of friends and strangers (who, in response to her, quickly became friends) after she retired. It came naturally to Anne to put the needs of others ahead of her own—and she did so routinely. I will always remember how she provided meaningful guidance to me during a particularly stressful time. I’m sure others received similar caring assistance because that’s who she was. Anne made a positive difference in the lives of many. Van Zeck

Anne never met a stranger! She engaged with everybody she met whether or not she knew them. Watching her, I saw how these encounters were always warmly received. Anne was always fun on a group adventures. I'll miss her.

I had the good fortune of working with Anne for many years at Treasury. More importantly, we became friends. Under Anne’s leadership, she raised to a new level of effectiveness a program that reviewed Federal Reserve Bank operations performed for the Treasury. She was also part of our small team that established an office in 1986 that regulates the Government Securities market. That office is still in operation today. Anne was a perfectionist, always searching for that final fact or crucial piece of information. She was also a team player offering to help or lend a hand to coworkers. Her desire to help others in need was a hallmark of her life. My condolences and prayers go out to Anne’s family and friends. If we all keep Anne in our memory and thoughts, she will never die until we all die. Ken Papaj

My deepest condolences to Anne’s family and all of us who loved her. I have known Anne for 50 years and worked with her for 20 years. She was an excellent Treasury executive, making major contributions on significant issues and always supportive of employees. She rose to the highest career service level. Anne joined us on numerous European river cruises. She was like a sponge—-absorbing the culture, history and language. Mostly, however, Anne was always reaching out to help others in need. She was generous, warm-hearted and a care-giver who was providing help to others on the very day we lost her. She was a special woman and we will miss her dearly. Dick and Connie Gregg
