Obituary of Dorothy A. Luppino
Dorothy Luppino (née McKeown), beloved matriarch, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Punta Gorda, Florida at the age of 89.
Born on November 2, 1935 in Belfast, Ireland to the late Samuel and Dorothy McKeown, Dorothy’s life was a remarkable journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She moved to England in her early years where fate brought her to her husband, Vito Luppino, Sr., who was serving in the U.S. Air Force at the time. Their love story carried them across the ocean to the United States in 1955, where they eventually settled in Summit and later made their home in Chatham.
Dorothy had a warm, vivacious spirit and a zest for life. She was a joyful presence wherever she went whether she was singing, dancing, reading her favorite romance novels, or spending a night out bowling or playing bingo. Her love of music and laughter filled her home and created lasting memories for all who knew her.
Above all else, Dorothy adored her family. She was the proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, offering wisdom, warmth, and heart.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Nick and his wife Georgie, John and his wife Nancy, Josephine Meyer, Antoinette Fredericks, and Dorothy Keotzel and her husband Bob; her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 cherished step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Jodi Luppino; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vito Luppino, Sr.; her son Vito Luppino, Jr.; her daughters Victoria Luppino and Rose Marie Bougas; and her siblings.
Dorothy’s life was one of resilience and enduring love. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the beautiful family she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
