Obituary of Timothy C. Hughes
Timothy C. Hughes, a lifelong resident of Madison, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the age of 39, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and quiet strength.
Born in Camden, NJ on January 31, 1986, to Timothy R. and Karen Hughes (née Reimann), Timothy was a son, brother, godfather, and friend whose heart was as vast as his imagination.
Timothy had a rare and beautiful way of connecting with both animals and people. Whether it was by lending a helping hand, offering a kind word, or simply showing up when someone needed him most, he lived his life in service to those he loved. His happy place was always with his family; he cherished their unity above all and rooted his life in the love they shared. Nature was his sanctuary, and he found peace in shared family vacations to the beach or on the hiking trails.
A true individual, Timothy wore his heart and his stories on his skin, collecting tattoos that spoke to his soul and experiences. He had a brilliant mind and a writer’s spirit, always reading, reflecting, and creating. His wit was sharp and his sense of humor unforgettable. He could make anyone in any room laugh instantly.
Timothy was a lover of the Philadelphia Eagles (go birds!), a fierce poker and pool player, and someone who found meaning in the symbol of the cardinal – a sign of hope, presence, and connection. Music was another thread woven deeply into his life, and his shared love of the Dave Matthews Band with his late father was something sacred to him. He also had a deep appreciation for the holidays and expressed his love through thoughtful and generous gifts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Timothy R. Hughes and is survived by his devoted mother, Karen Hughes; his beloved siblings Kenneth Hughes and his wife Gisella Amaya and Christina Hughes; his cherished godson Mateo; his treasured dog Raffi; and countless family and loved ones.
Timothy was a man of depth, humor, and heart. His presence lit up every room and his absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.
Family and friends may gather at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:15 p.m. Those who are unable to attend may view the mass virtually at www.svmnj.org
Interment with his father will be held at a later date.
