Sending my condolences to Sandy, her children, and to my Uncle Bill and Aunt Susan, and cousins Caroline & Michael. My memories of Billy from when we were children are faded, but what I remember most is a feeling of constant joy. He was ever smiling and jovial during our rare opportunities of playtime, the holiday visits to our Klepper grandparents in Lima Ohio. While we did not maintain closeness in our adult years, he has forever been in my evening prayers, along with all my east coast family relations. May God bless him and his family, always. In Honor of Bill For Sandy, who found her heart in his, And for the life they built so true— Two sons, a grandson, memories That time will never undo. Bill lived with fire, grace, and grit, With laughter on the green and snow, He skied the peaks of Breckenridge, And let his steady kindness show. When cancer came to steal his stride, He stood, a warrior, strong and proud, Eighteen years he fought that storm— A hero never bowed. Then came the final cruel wave, Too swift to fight, too sharp, too fast, Yet love, not loss, will write his name In all our hearts to last. He leaves behind a legacy— Of courage, family, and light, And Sandy’s love, that glowing flame, Still burning ever bright. I met Bill at work. He was my lotus flower in the swamp. Bill was my boss; he did not like to be called boss, but he was the BEST boss anyone could have. Humbleness was one of his many virtues and he was THE ladies' man, he even stole my grandma's heart. Bill enjoyed grandma's food so much that he even knew the names of the traditional Bolivian dishes in Spanish, his favorites were Sillpancho, fake rabbit, just to name a few. Grandma and Bill both shared their love for very spicy food. Bill was truly a light in my life, he even changed my professional life with his invaluable advice, and when I landed a job at one of the "magnificent 7" tech companies, he told me that he was proud of me, and to hear that from the person you admire is one of the best feelings in the world. I miss Bill too much, his intelligent conversations, I'd just listen to absorb some of his wisdom. Bill is in a better place now, enjoying the presence of God, but his legacy is with us and thanks to him, my family and I adopted a new family 18 years ago, Sandy and the boys are our family. My mom, grandma and I love you very much. This is the last picture we have together from last year. It was the funniest moment when Bill and I battled over the restaurant's bill; this was the first time we ever saw grandma cracking up (grandma doesn't smile too much haha).

We started as coworkers and quickly became friends and eventually like brothers. We could speak frankly to each other without regret or reservation. We joked often, shared our common love for bluegrass music and sci-fi movies. We'd talk about anything and everything. We've been having these hard discussions about life and cancer for about the last 20 years. When I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma a few years ago, after the doc I called Bill because he understood and we could speak frankly. I was fortunate to visit him a few weeks ago and we had a great time. He knew what he was facing but joked "I've lived way past my expiration date". Such a brave and tenacious man. To his family that I feel like I know well from everything Bill told me about you, please know Bill was deeply loved and respected by me and so many in our UPS family. It's left a hole in our lives too. Hugs and love to you all. I was able to speak to him a few days before he left us. We had a great heart to heart. He was so proud of Sandy, and the boys, and his grandchild. We should all strive to be the kind of person Bill was.
