Obituary of Mary Louise Polo
Mary Louise Polo, a beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at her home in Madison. She was 84 years old and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Michael Polo; and her beloved son, David Polo: and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her other son, Philip Polo in 1992; and her two brothers, Joseph Moore and Arthur Moore.
Born on July 2, 1941 in Morristown, New Jersey, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Herman and Rose Mary Moore. She grew up in Madison alongside her two brothers, where she developed a deep sense of community and a caring spirit that would define her life.
Mary Lou was a devoted mother with a heart of gold, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a remarkable ability to care for family, friends and neighbors alike, offering support and kindness to anyone in need. Her love for animals, particularly dogs and horses, was evident in the way she nurtured and cherished them, reflecting her gentle and compassionate nature.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church, Mary Lou’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Instilled with a strong Catholic upbringing, she held a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, finding strength and solace in her faith throughout her life.
Mary Lou enjoyed a fulfilling career as an administrative assistant with the Madison Board of Education, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. Her colleagues and friends admired her professionalism and the warmth she brought to the office.
Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit of generosity, love for others, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou which will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Interment will follow at the Fair Mount Cemetery, Chatham.
In honor of her memory, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929, reflecting Mary Lou’s lifelong love for animals.
