Obituary of Maureen T. Giunta
MIKI GIUNTA
September 18, 1945 – May 13, 2025
Born Maureen Teresa O’Neill in Jersey City on September 18, 1945, she was affectionately nicknamed “Miki” at an early age—a name that followed her through every chapter of her life.
Miki passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her devoted family and friends.
Born in Jersey City to the late John and Maureen O’Neill of Belfast, Ireland, Miki’s life story began in the close knit Irish American community of Kearny, where she grew up with her beloved siblings.
Of Northern Irish descent her parents migrated through Ellis Island, and she proudly carried with her the strength and warmth of her heritage, lighting every space she entered with unmistakable presence.
A true pioneer in every sense of the word, Miki Giunta was a leader and visionary in the American Day Spa Industry. As the founder of Spa Health Consultants in Springfield, NJ, she was among the first to introduce holistic plant-based wellness, thalassotherapy and root cause analysis to a broader American audience— well before it was part of the cultural conversation.
With unwavering determination and a keen entrepreneurial spirit, she built her company from the ground up, setting a new standard for self-care, skin renewal, body healing, wellness, and nutrition.
Miki mentored so many, an advocate for natural healing, she cultivated not only beauty in others, but belief in themselves.
She broke barriers for women in business and left a meaningful imprint on everyone who met her professionally—clients, colleagues, and industry peers alike.
She accomplished all of this while facing the challenges of vision loss due to macular degeneration and while raising two children on her own. Her resilience, and grace led the way.
Miki is the beloved mother of Parris Giunta and his wife, Mariah, and a deeply devoted Nana to her two cherished grandchildren, Quinn and Shane Francis. Her heart forever held the memory of her treasured daughter, Tara Giunta Francis, who preceded her in passing. Their bond endures beyond this life.
She is also survived by her siblings who she adored—Dennis O’Neill, James O’Neill, and Betty Stoner as well as many close nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
To those who knew her, Miki was elegant, kind, and quietly fierce.
Her generosity of spirit, her love of nature & animals and her passion for helping others live better lives defined her.
Whether she was sharing her knowledge with a client, offering a listening ear and sharing her wisdom with a friend or family member, or wrapping her grandchildren in unconditional love, Miki gave fully. She was an icon in every way, personally and professionally —a woman who lifted others. Her impact will be felt for generations.
Private services will be held for Miki’s family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that charitable contributions be made in her name to independently owned, local animal rescue organizations—a cause close to her heart.
“May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
Dignified Service Since 1948
