Obituary of Louis A. De Rosa

Louis Anthony De Rosa, a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 61.

Lou is survived by his two brothers, Michael Anthony De Rosa and his wife Cathy & Anthony Louis De Rosa and his wife Dawn; two nieces, Rachel De Rosa and her husband Charles Moodispaw & Michelle De Rosa; three nephews, Spencer De Rosa and his wife Marissa, Nicholas De Rosa & Anthony De Rosa, Jr.; one great niece, Odette De Rosa;  several extended family members; and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Louis and Vita De Rosa.

Lou was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 1, 1963 and in 1967 the family settled in Madison where Lou and his two brothers were raised.  Lou was a graduate of Madison High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.

Before retiring, Lou had a career in the insurance industry as the purchasing manager with Beneficial Life Insurance in Bedminster.

Lou loved sports and he was very athletic for his entire life. He loved playing pickleball, softball and wiffleball, and he was a dedicated New York Mets and Giants fan. Lou was also a collector of rare coins.

Lou was an all-around good man. He was humble, gave with his heart never seeking anything in return, and would help anyone in need.

Lou was a devoted son and brother, favorite uncle, and the most loyal friend anyone could have. He selflessly took an early retirement to take care of both of his parents in their final years. Lou also had a tremendous faith and he loved the Lord.

Although Lou will be missed beyond measure by his family and friends, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with the Lord and has been reunited with his beloved parents.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Lou to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.

A graveside service will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit.

Charitable contributions may be made in Lou’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,  Memphis, TN 38105.
