Seena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Ira Solomon; and her siblings Alvin, Lloyd, and Sherle.
Seena was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY on July 20, 1926, to the late Samuel and Rae Shevlowitz. She met her husband, Ira, while skiing in the Catskills, and the couple married after Seena received her undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College. They first settled in Ira’s native Bronx before making the move to New Milford, NJ to raise their family. Seena went on to receive two master’s degrees from Columbia University and CW Post (Long Island University), respectively, as well as her teaching license from William Paterson University.
Seena began her career working as and administrative assistant in an import/export company. After her children were born she became an elementary school teacher in New Milford, eventually becoming a school librarian and later a public librarian in various municipalities. She adored being around friends and family, often hosting dinner parties for her friends in her younger years and later enjoying family dinners with her children and grandchildren. Seena found tremendous joy in being a grandmother and spent every Thursday with her grandchildren. She and her husband, Ira, were members of bowling leagues, played bridge with friends, and enjoyed traveling to many places including Hawaii, Paris, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and taking road trips with their children. Seena also enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader, and loved watching old movies.
Though her family will forever miss her, they will always treasure her memory and take comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
