Obituary of Carmine Ciccarelli
Carmine Ciccarelli, of Florham Park (formerly a longtime Madison resident), passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was 89.
Carmine is survived by his devoted daughter, Elena Ciccarelli; his two loving sons, Giovan Giuseppe Ciccarelli and Carmine L. Ciccarelli; one sister, Teresa “Sissina” Mazzuoccolo; numerous extended family members; and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Carmine was predeceased by his beloved wife, Michela Ciccarelli in 2017; his dear son, Luigi Ciccarelli in 2021; two brothers, Vincenzo Ciccarelli and Domenico Ciccarelli; and one sister, Antonia Furlino.
Carmine was born in Pomigliano D’Arco, Italy on August 21, 1935 to the late Luigi and Orsula Ciccarelli. He married his beloved wife Michela in 1961, he emigrated to the United States in 1972, and his wife joined him in 1974, where they settled in Madison and raised their family. Carmine always remained grateful to have been able to become an American citizen and live the American dream. He took nothing or anyone for granted.
Carmine was a master carpenter, trained in Italy by the old-world craftsmen. He began his career building custom homes in his adopted island of Ischia. Soon his reputation grew for his quality work and great attention to detail. He continued the trade in the United States, joining the Carpenters Union Local #254 in 1974. After twenty years he transitioned to a new career at the Automatic Switch Co. in Florham Park where he devoted another 16 years of dedicated work to technical manufacturing. Carmine fully retired in 2009 to spend more time with Michela and his family.
Family was everything to Carmine and he was happiest when his family and friends gathered at his home for the holidays and other occasions. Carmine enjoyed being outside in his garden. He grew various fruits and vegetables which he shared with his family and friends. Carmine also loved winemaking, a pastime he looked forward to every single year.
Carmine gave with his heart and would do anything for anyone in need. He frequently used his expert skills to fix things for other people. Carmine loved soccer, especially the Italian Seria A league. He loved game shows and any movie starring John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. Carmine had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his children’s dogs and cats.
Although we will miss Carmine deeply, we take solace in knowing he is at peace and is with the Lord, reunited with his wife Michela and his son Luigi.
