"Window Joe" carrying on the tradition - tasty home-grown tomatoes and dashing hair cuts - from Gerard to our son, Brian - seen here receiving his first-ever hair cut, along with a lollipop and a certificate, from the best in the business (1997-1998). Love and prayers to Rosa and her family. Arrivederci, Bella Joe. Dio ti benedica.

Joe was our family barber when we moved to Convent Station in 1966. Our son, Doon and I were joined by Doon’s son, Dillon, Liam and Finn. Joe was family to us and Rosa became our dear friend when Joe moved his practice to his home. We all adored Joe and relished his fervor for food and family. All my childhood friends were first born Americans. Monthly appointments with Joe were nostalgic visitaitions. “The song is ended but the melody lingers on” Bob Wintz Hilton Head Island.

Joe was my barber from early childhood until he stopped cutting hair. He was a great guy. I remember his last days in the shop & all the guys telling stories about Joe.
A true testament of a great mans ability to touch others. He will be missed.

Joe was my dad’s barber and my own barber. He took such special care that I even looked forward to getting a haircut as a child (probably in part because every haircut ended with a lollipop). Joe was a staple of my childhood and for that I’ll always be grateful.

Joe was my barber from 1963 up until he stopped cutting hair a few years ago. He also cut my father's and my three son's hair. They (and I and many others) were always more than willing to wait an extra half hour or so to wait for "Window Joe". My sons were 9, 6 and 4 when Continental Barber shop Closed and that year or two hiatus before Joe started cutting out of his home was difficult for my kids as no one could measure up to Joe. When Joe started cutting at home, we not only got the benefit of Joe's wonderful service, but also got to know Rosa and the family. It was a special experience to be able to be in the Dotro basement and soak up the family vibe and delightful aromas emanating from Rosa's kitchen.
Since Joe stopped cutting hair, I've enjoyed the occasional phone calls, but continue to miss my nearly 60 year monthly date with Joe (and later Rosa). Make me recall how the line for window Joe was The silver lining is that Heaven will be getting a fantastic barber with an even more fantastic way about him. I predict that St. Peter will place Joe in the first chair right by the window and there will be a line out the door waiting on Window Joe.
Peace and Prayers to Joe and for Rosa and the family.
