Obituary of John H. Stamler

John H. Stamler, of Chesterfield, Missouri, cherished son, grandson, nephew, and cousin passed away in New Jersey on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was 28 years old.

John is survived by his mother, Linda Stamler; his father, Richard Stamler; one uncle, Jay Curtis and his wife Liz; his maternal grandmother, Brenda J. Curtis; his paternal grandmother, Linda T. Stamler; five cousins, Katie Curtis, Maggie Curtis, Amanda Stamler, Jessica Brigante, and Marissa Stamler.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John W. Curtis; his paternal grandfather, John H. Stamler; and his two uncles, Stephen Stamler and Gary Stamler.

John was born in Livingston on January 21, 1997. He was raised in Berkeley Heights, where he lived for the majority of his life. In his younger years, John loved to be outdoors, skateboarding, riding ATV’s and doing anything that involved action.  He was a 2015 graduate of Governor Livingston High School where he played football, lacrosse, and wrestled.  John loved being part of a team and formed longstanding friendships that he held onto even when he moved away.

John was a special young man who drew people to him without even trying.  John loved his family, friends and animals deeply and truly understood and accepted people for who they were. John was a quiet and thoughtful soul and would do whatever he could for someone in need.

John was extremely intelligent. He was an avid reader, particularly of history and religion, and possessed a broad knowledge of just about everything.  He was fascinated with understanding how things worked, especially mechanical things. John was a determined, resourceful man who demonstrated courage and tenacity when he faced adversity throughout his life.

John was one of the fortunate people who turned his passion into a career and became a gunsmith.  He took great pride in his work and would spend hours researching, learning and perfecting his craft which brought him so much joy. He will be profoundly missed by many.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the memorial visitation for John to be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison.

Entombment of John’s urn will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
