Obituary of Ernestine Gourdine

Evangelist Ernestine Gourdine of Jersey City was embraced into the arms of the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 78.

Ernestine was born in Estill, South Carolina on May 25, 1946, to the late Natalie Taylor.  Ernestine moved to Jersey City, NJ as a young girl.  

After graduating from high school, she went on to have a long successful career as a secretary.  

Ernestine married her husband Bezlee Gourdine on August 25, 1973, and the couple welcomed their beautiful children. Ernestine was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family.  She enjoyed playing the piano, singing gospel songs and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. She had a loving disposition and a great sense of humor.  

Although Ernestine's family is deeply saddened by the loss of her kind and caring soul, they take great comfort that she is now at peace and at home with the Lord.  

Ernestine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Bezlee Gourdine. She leaves behind her cherished children Shaun Gourdine and Twanna Gourdine; three cherished grandchildren Tarik Gourdine, Natalie Gourdine and Brianna Gourdine; two cherished great grandchildren Sariya Gourdine and Ki'Yan Gourdine; her cherished goddaughter Tamika Saba; and many extended family members whom she loved dearly.  

The family will honor Ernestine privately without a service.  Respectfully, the family encourages you to honor her life in your own way.
