Obituary of Fausta M. Roberto

Fausta M. Roberto (née Mongiello), a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 15, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was 97.

Fausta is survived by her daughter, Marie Antoinette “Toni” Mack and her husband Steve; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Roberto; three grandchildren, Robert Mack and his wife Brittany, Andrew Mack and his wife Danielle & ChristinaMazza and her husband Kenny; and five great-grandchildren, Annabelle Norma Mack, Michael James Mack, Charlotte Maria Mack, Samantha Grace Mack & Oliver Mazza; and several extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Fausta was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Bartolomeo “Benny” Roberto in 2018; and their dear son, Michael Roberto.

Fausta was born in Cassano Irpino, Avellino, Italy in 1927 to the late Giuseppe and Antoinette Mongiello. She was married to her beloved Benny in 1950 the couple emigrated to the United States in 1951, settling in Madison, New Jersey. They lived on South Street in Madison where they raised their children and had a beautiful life together. Fausta and Benny truly lived the American dream, and they were grateful for everything life afforded them.

Fausta and Benny worked hard to provide a good life for their children. They were both wonderful parents who instilled respect, values, faith and the importance of hard work in their children. Fausta adored her children and she attributed living well into advanced age knowing she wanted to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and prosper.

To say Fausta had a green thumb was an understatement. She was well known in her neighborhood for her garden. At one time, she had over 150 tomato plants growing, as well as growing corn, peppers, broccoli, watermelons and an incredible array of flowers. Benny would assist her by tilling the soil and the daily watering. It brought her great joy to grow produce and give them away to family and friends.

Fausta lived a meaningful life and passed away just as she lived, in peace and with faith. She will be deeply missed but we all take solace in knowing she is with her Lord.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Fausta on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

All may gather at the funeral home starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 prior to a funeral service begining at 10:00 a.m. led by Fr. Owen Moran.

Interment will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a charitable contribution in Fausta’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
