Obituary of Igea A. Gamba
Igea A. Gamba (née Girardi), of Warminster, PA. passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025 surrounded by her three children. She was 87.
Igea is survived by her daughters, Elaine Needham and her husband Jack & Denise Cole and her husband Michael; her son, Mark Gamba and his wife Iulia; her brother, Col. Alfred Girardi (Ret.); four cherished grandchildren, Keith Needham, Luke Gamba, Maren Gamba & Jillian Cole; several extended family members and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward B. Gamba; and their dear grandson, Sean E. Needham.
Igea was born in New York City on July 25, 1937, to the late Desiderio and Ersilia Girardi. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan.
Igea met her husband Ed while they both worked for IBM in Manhattan. They married on April 23, 1960. They bought their first home in Brewster NY before settling in Somers, NY where they lived and raised their family for many years. Igea had a long career with IBM in Westchester County, NY where she was a senior executive secretary.
Igea treasured her family and her husband Ed. She was a wonderful mother and a doting grandmother. She and Ed loved to entertain family and friends, hosting many parties and countless memorable holidays. Igea and Ed were also fortunate to have travelled extensively throughout the US and Europe. They created a beautiful life together.
Igea was a warm and friendly person who made friends easily. She was a fixture in her community and will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Family and friends will be gathering in the church vestibule at 11:45 a.m. prior to the Mass. For those unable to attend, the Mass can be viewed via livestream at https://svmnj.org/livestream-mass
Entombment will follow at the St. Vincent’s Cemetery Columbarium, at the corner of Noe Ave and Shunpike Road in Madison.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that charitable contributions in Igea’s memory be made to a very special charity to the family, From Beyond The Garden www.frombeyondthegarden.org
