Obituary of Antoine S. Hajjar
Antoine “Tony” S. Hajjar, a longtime Chatham Township resident, passed away at home on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was 56.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Aida Hajjar; his brother, Nicholas Hajjar; his sister, Carol Hajjar; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Tony was born in Karoun, Lebanon, on December 14, 1968, to the late Semaan and Daad Hajjar. He came to the United States briefly in 1986 before completing high school in Mauritania. He officially moved to the United States in 1988 to attend college. He graduated from the County College of Morris with honors before attending Rutgers University to obtain his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Tony then earned his master’s degree in civil engineering from NJIT, along with multiple certifications and licenses in various specialties.
Tony worked as an engineer for the Borough of Bernardsville and the City of New Brunswick, in addition to owning his own land surveying company.
Though his career kept him quite busy, Tony always found time for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, as well as a supportive brother and friend. In his free time, Tony loved cooking—particularly grilling, making pizzas, and smoking meat for his family.
Tony’s family will always cherish their treasured memories of him in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Tony to be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison immediately followed by a 1:30 PM funeral service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
