Obituary of Virginia M. D'Andrea

Virginia Marie D’Andrea (née Lozaw), of Hamburg, NJ and formerly a longtime East Hanover resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025 at her home. She was 94.

Viginia is survived by her two sons, Daniel D’Andrea of Hamburg, NJ & Joseph D’Andrea Sr, and his wife Katie of Morris Plains, NJ; one daughter, Ellen Garretson and her husband, Greg of Sun Lakes, AZ; two grandchildren Heather (Rob Corsetto) & Joseph Jr (Kim); three great-grandchildren, Joseph III, Giada & Angelo; and several extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Daniel A. D’Andrea; and her three brothers, Raymond, George & Wallace Lozaw.

Virginia was born in Kinnelon, NJ to the late Wallace and Eleanor Lozaw where she was raised with her three brothers. She was a graduate of Boonton High School.

Virginia was first introduced to her husband Daniel at the Florham Park Roller Rink. The couple were an instant match and were married on April 14, 1951. They settled in Madison first for the next few years with their young family. The family relocated to East Hanover in 1962, then to Parsippany in 1974.

Virginia was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and her family was everything to her. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was phenomenal cook and her family especially loved her Italian specialties. She always made sure the holidays were special for her family and that everyone was well fed.

Virginia was a faith-filled woman and a devout Catholic. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and she prayed the rosary often. Virginia attended church regularly and was a member of the rosary society at St. Rose of Lima Church. Her tremendous faith combined with her strong will is what helped her to be a 25-year cancer survivor.

Virginia was an accounts receivable administrator at Nabisco in East Hanover for many years before her retirement in 1988. Prior to that she also worked at Voltronics in East Hanover and Ketcham and McDougal in Roseland.

After retiring, Virginia and Daniel lived in Williamstown, NJ from 1985 until 1993, South Plainfield from 1993 to 2000, Franklin, NJ from 2000 to 2018, and Toms River for two years. Virginia moved to Hamburg in 2020 to be closer to her family after Daniel passed away in 2019.

To know Virginia was to love her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her, and her love and warmth will live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 to be held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, February 13, 2025 followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 312 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover.

Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
