Obituary of Rosemarie E. Acierno
Rosemarie E. Acierno, of Chatham, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was 91.
She leaves behind her devoted children, Lynne Acierno, John Acierno and Mark Acierno; eight grandchildren, Suzanne, Richard, Carolyn, Michael, Jacqueline, Julia, Nicholas and Joseph; and seven great-grandchildren, Mark, Milo, Madison, Blair, Emery, Reid and James.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph N. Acierno in 2012.
Rosemarie was born and raised in Brooklyn on July 22, 1933 to the late Alfred and Margaret Rosse. She received her undergraduate degree from Marymount College and Fordham University, and a master’s degree in education from Wagner College. Rosemarie had a deep love for children and became a sixth grade reading and social studies teacher at St. Patrick’s School in Brooklyn and later became a curriculum coordinator for the Brooklyn Arch Diocese.
A chance meeting on a blind date brought Rosemarie and her beloved husband, Joseph, together. The couple became inseparable and married in November of 1954. Rosemarie was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana to her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and antiquing and her homes on Lake Hopatcong and Hutchinson Island, Florida.
Rosemarie’s family will forever treasure their memories of her. Her strength, generosity and kindness will be deeply missed.
Services for Rosemarie are being held privately for her family.
