Louis R. Casamassa, Sr., a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully at his home in Madison on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He was 95.
Louis was born and raised in Morristown. Shortly after graduating Morristown High School, Louis honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII. After returning from the war, Louis resided in Morristown. He moved to Madison in 1948 marrying his beloved wife and best friend, the late Margaret Casamassa.
Louis had a career spanning 33 years with the US Postal Service in Madison, as a letter carrier, retiring in 1978. He was also a very talented upholsterer and operated his own business in Madison re-upholstering furniture and fabricating custom slip-covers for many years. Louis was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church.
Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Casamassa (nee Izzo) in 2014, and his beloved son, Natale Casamassa in 2005. He is survived by his devoted son, Louis R. Casamassa, Jr. and his wife, Anna of East Hanover; and his cherished grandchildren, Jane Louis (Raymond), Sarah and Sean Casamassa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Louis’ life on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, immediately followed by a 10:30AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
