I suppose there can be no more compelling evidence of Dr. Quinlan’s immense influence and impact than the fact that now, forty years after my graduation from NJMS, I remember hm so clearly. I know that many in my class saw him as a role model, as both a clinician and a teacher. He was demanding of his students, but in that way he helped us become better. It is not so much that we were scared of him (though I think we were, at least a little) but that we craved his approval and wanted him to think that we were capable of living up to his very high standards. To this day I hope I do. My condolences to his family and all others whose lives and careers he helped shape.
