Greg, as I'm reading through the posts that others left, I wish more than ever that I had the chance to meet this incredible woman. I know though that I'll find part of her in your daughter once I meet her too, and through you - as her joy & spirit seems to be contagious enough to carry through different realms. Her life was taken from all of us and we will cherish our limited time with Joyce. Hannah is her most precious gift she gave to Greg and to us. She leaves us with an empty heart. RIP beautiful Joyce.

I met Joyce at Queens Medical Center in Hawaii in 2020. We were the mainland girls that moved there (and left) just around the same time, and our lives synced and we bonded quickly. We deemed each other our “accountability partner,” and met up to eat yummy food and have zen hangouts. I am so honored to have witnessed Joyce in how she lived so fully and faced every hurdle with graceful strength and gentle love. She is an incredible and amazing woman and will truly be missed. I pray for immeasurable love and comfort to Greg, Hannah, and your families. I am so sorry for your loss. Joyce I miss you so much, and this all seems like a bad dream. I go through our photos and texts over and over again. I don’t know what to do or say. You deserved so much more time on this Earth, with your love Greg and beautiful baby Hannah Jane. My beautiful, kind friend, you truly shined in every way and have impacted deeply all those you’ve come across. I am forever grateful for our friendship that began in Hawaii. Thank you for being my first friend on the island, for being my accountability partner, for our foodie dates, zen sessions, and for your gentle love and support. Thank you for letting me into your life and sharing so much joy, positivity, and humble kindness. Love you so much.

Dear Joyce Your departure is very heartbreaking. I have never given up on you two children from beginning to end, but the fate makes people very helpless. Your innocence and kindness are the incarnation of angels. In your difficult days, God gave you the best gift. They are Greg and Hannah who take great care of you and love you very much. They add a lot of happiness to your life! Pray for the Lord’s grace to free you from illness ! Pray that the Lord will lead you to happiness in heaven ! I miss and love you forever. My heart is broken and even when I pick up the pieces it won’t ever feel the same… Joyce you are and always will be the one of the sweetest souls I’ll ever know! I’m so happy you came into our lives and we got to spend all those years together as a family! I promise to always look out for my niece I love her so much! I will make Michael relinquish whatever toy she desires whenever I’m missing you so much, I will look into your daughter’s eyes and know your spirit lives on through her. Joyce and I were friends in high school. She and I were on the cheer squad in the fall and did track and field in the winter and spring. She had the most infectious laugh and smile. She could walk into any room and the entire room would brighten because of her positive energy and presence. I remember teaching her how to curl her hair and she would tell me that it wouldn't work because her hair was too thick, and I told her just try it and use lots of hairspray when your hair is on the curling iron and it'll work. Sure enough it worked! And soon after that she would come into class with her hair all curled and it looked amazing. She was such a fun, kind spirited person, with a loving heart and just a loving personality. She would always live her life in love and happiness and she taught me a lot on the power of being kind to everyone - even those who might have hurt you. She loved everyone. Love you so much Joyce. Joyce lived with us for at least 5 years and made our lives more colorful with her infectious laughter and silliness. She had a God given gift of making those around her feel welcomed and would have them opening up about themselves. It was privilege to see her come to give her life over to Christ and be baptized. We were encouraged by her prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord despite her circumstances. Joyce- you will be greatly missed but we look forward to being reunited in the presence of our Lord. The best is yet to come!!! Greg- We were blessed to witness your love and care for Joyce. Thank you, Greg! We will be praying for you and Hannah during this difficult time.

I met Joyce in college, where I got to experience her strength, friendliness, and loving nature. I was so lucky to get to reconnect with her and her sweet family a few months ago at Liz’s house. Joyce was my best friend for 16 years, basically half my life. We’ve each been through cross country moves, various life struggles, raising children, and everything in between together. And even though we didn’t have to talk every day, in fact I think with the pandemic, we didn’t talk for months; when we reconnected, it was like no time had lapsed at all. We just naturally complemented each other. She had my back, and I had hers. And she loved me unconditionally, in a way no one else besides my family has ever loved me. And I loved her so unconditionally as well. I never expected that I wouldn’t be continuing to make memories with Joyce on this earth. In fact, I had this picture of us in rocking chairs when she drove with me from Florida to New Jersey last minute when I needed her (because that’s just who she was; always reliable and always there). Of course I can’t find it, but I captioned, can’t wait to grow old with you. Well Joyce, I’m still going to grow old with you, you’re still going to be in all my memories, and you’re still going to be my best friend. Just not in the way I imagined. But it will still be beautiful and it will still be special, and the memories I’m going to continue making will still be sprinkled with traces of you. And I can’t wait to see you again in heaven, my sweet best friend angel, Joyce.

I met Joyce our freshman year of college and we just clicked! Anyone who crossed paths with her could attest what a remarkable soul she truly was. She was bubbly, funny and emotionally intelligent. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcomed, effortlessly turning strangers into friends with her warmth and humor. I remember how special you felt hearing her sing because she had such an amazing voice but didn't allow just anyone to hear her belt out her favorite songs. A couple years ago, I was lucky enough to reconnect with her in Hawaii and I finally got to meet Greg. I was so happy to see her with her person. Joyce was not just a bright light; she was light personified. Her spirit embraced us all and her legacy of love and joy will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
