Obituary of Eleanor Marie DeBiasse

Eleanor Marie DeBiasse (nee Russo), of Chatham, passed away peacefully at Juniper Village Assisted Living in Chatham Township on July 25, 2017 with her children by her side. She was 93. Eleanor was a welcoming, warm person and her love will live on in her entire family.

Eleanor was born and raised in Waterbury, CT. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Elizabeth's College in Convent Station and remained active in alumni activities. She met her beloved husband, the late Salvatore DeBiasse, while attending St. Elizabeth's College and the couple settled in Madison, where they raised their family.

Eleanor's life was devoted to caring for her family. She also was the office manager and bookkeeper for her late husband's plumbing company for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church and was a woman of tremendous faith (she had to be to have 11 children). She was a very active volunteer and supporter of the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris Plains, as well as a volunteer at St. Anne's Villa of Florham Park, where she assisted elderly nuns and knitted crafts and other projects to be sold at their yearly bazaar. Eleanor was also a member of the St. Elizabeth's Alumni Association and the Madison Historical Society. She was an excellent cook and baker, she enjoyed knitting and sewing, and was an avid reader.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore DeBiasse; two sons, Charles "Skip" and Salvatore; one son-in-law, David Bishop; and two brothers, Gaetano and Edward. She leaves behind her four daughters, Mary Oliver of Madison (Bruce), Norie DeBiasse of Lafayette (Ken), Karen Bishop of Gilmer, TX, and Kathleen VanOrden of Madison (George); five sons, Stephen DeBiasse of Madison (fiance Gail), John DeBiasse of Long Valley (Rosemary), David DeBiasse of Lawrence, KS (Trish), Michael DeBiasse of Fanwood (Joan), and Paul DeBiasse of Pottersville (Lorilee); one brother, Robert of Batavia, IL (Melanie); 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation to celebrate Eleanor's life on Monday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. There will be a private graveside service.
