Obituary of Filippo Ergastolo

Filippo Ergastolo AGE: 93 • Florham Park Filippo Ergastolo, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 26, 2016. He was 93. Born in Somma Vesuviana, Italy, Filippo moved to the United States in 1953. He was a construction laborer for Labor Union #54 in Morristown for over 30 years before retiring. Filippo was a communicant of Holy Family R.C. Church in Florham Park. He was also a proud member of the North Star Club of Madison and he enjoyed hunting. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emilia Ergastolo (nee Lucente) in 1977, his brother, Giovanni Egisto, three sisters, Sr. Angelina Ergastolo, Pasqualina Rea , and Rose Terracciano. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Rega and her husband Angelo of Florham Park, one brother, Giuseppe Egisto, two sisters, Maria Ergastolo and Mafalda Ergastolo, 4 grandchildren, Joseph Rega and his wife Joanne, Amy Rega, Sandy Berres and her husband Chris, and Philip Rega, and three great-grandchildren, Joey, Camilla, and Angelo. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family R.C. Church, Florham Park. Entombment is at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
