Obituary of John Garcia

John M. Garcia Retired machinist, Columbian Club member, formerly of Morris Township, 86 John M. Garcia of Newark, Del., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Newark Manor Nursing Home at the age of 86. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, May 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St, Madison, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Morristown, N.J., on Monday, May 9, at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Rood Mausoleum. Born in Morristown, N.J., John lived in Morris Township, N.J., for many years before moving to Newark, Del., shortly after hurricane Sandy. John was a graduate of Morristown High School-class of 1948, where he played football and was a member of the Flynn Boys. He served with the United States Army National Guard during the Korean War and was employed as a machinist at Rowe Manufacturing in Whippany, N.J., until his retirement. He was also a long time member of the Morristown Columbian Club. John is survived by his loving daughter, Ann Marie Green and her husband, Andrew, of Newark, Del., and cherished grandson, Karl Green; his brother, Albert Garcia, and brother and sisters-in-law: Michael Lucia, and Peter Caruso and his wife, Nancy. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dolores Garcia, in 2008, and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Garcia and Ruth Lucia.
