Caroline "Carol" Gualtieri (nee Collins), of New Providence, passed away quietly on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Overlook Hospital after a long Illness. She was 77 years old. Carol will always be remembered as a very special person; warm, genuine and with a big heart. She will be deeply missed by many.
Carol was born in Brooklyn to the late Joseph and Caroline Collins. She was raised in Belleville and was a long-time resident of Millburn-Short Hills, where she raised her family. She moved to New Providence over 15 years ago.
Carol was an administrative assistant with Prudential Insurance of Newark earlier in her life. She transitioned careers and became a realtor with Weichert Realty of Short Hills and Summit, although her most important role was raising her three sons, who she was most proud of.
Carol put others before herself. She was the type of person that formed very deep, life-long friendships with people. She was well read and versed in a vast number of topics, and had the ability to carry on conversations with people from any walk of life. Carol was thoughtful and was always there to help a family member or friend, or to give good advice. Carol was also an animal lover and would help any animal in need.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Patricia Collins. She is survived by her three sons, John Gualtieri of Abington, PA (Illona), Ken Gualtieri of Emmaus, PA (Robin), and Keir Gualtieri of Stirling (Tiffany Olson); one brother, Joe Collins of Caldwell; one sister, Barbara Ivchenko of Livingston (Jim); five cherished grandchildren, Ella, Evan, Enzo, Eli, and Keira; and many good friends.
